Radio
The first transmission on the Voice of Vietnam was on September 2, 1945 when President Ho Chi Minh read out the Declaration of Independence. Previously the French owned and controlled the radio network.
Throughout the war years it was used as an information tool by the government to promote patriotism. Since Doi Moi the radio programming has expanded to include news, music, talk shows and foreign and ethnic language programs.
