Most companies hire from abroad for specialized staff but there are some jobs – English teachers for example – that are available once you’re here.

ESL
Most language schools will not hire from overseas. There have been too many ‘no shows’ in the past. The busy season is after Tet, the Lunar New Year, through the summer to Christmas. Vietnamese parents will move heaven and earth for their child’s education so if you like teaching children this is a great opportunity. Look at the listings under Language Schools.
Also check the International Schools, UNIS, HIS and the Japanese and Korean schools.

International schools, universities and colleges also need qualified foreign teachers, often with specialized qualifications. They hire from abroad but if they have an unexpected high enrollment, or if a teacher has to leave, there is a chance of employment.
